FURTHER INTO THE SOUTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND

On the road from Franz Josef to Queenstown. It took us some time to get there because we wanted to spent some time to wander around and do some walks. Mountains covered with snow, glaciers, lakes and long beaches. All that with a lot of wind and 4 seasons a day.

We had a few barbecues with some new friends on our way and I tried some lamb for the first time here. Something I don't like at all in Belgium but these NZ lambs just taste so much better haha. I thought Wanaka was nice (but really windy) but I loved Queenstown. We spent some days there and enjoyed the sunny weather, the public barbecues and a swim in the cold lake. Lazy sundays at the lakeside with the best summer feeling.

The best part was Worldstock, a dress up hippie party in the World bar. There was live music and they even put real grass on the ground. We danced all night and the party ended in Fergburger, the most popular hamburger restaurant I've ever seen, even at 4 am. The following day we tried one of the burgers and they were just amazing. I wanted to try them all but of course there was no time, there's still so much to see in this country!
