Happy new year! It's been a while since I put something on the blog so here are some pictures of the past two weeks. We're still in Melbourne, Australia enjoying the sunny weather (actually there's a heatwave at the moment and we're melting), the holidays and some great christmas and new years eve parties.
We found some nice places in this city. Lots of them are hidden so that makes it even better. Container bars, urban gardens, art markets and little graffiti streets. They're everywhere and we keep on discovering them in between the big buildings or on rooftops in the center.
The first week, we kept on bumping into people we know. It was quiet weird to be honest. I told you before that I bumped into Michelle, a class mate from high school. The following days we bumped into a friend of Joke who was doing an internship in Melbourne for three months, some Ozzies we met at the rock werchter festival in Belgium, people we met on our trip. It was like we had to bump into someone every day.
And then there were the holidays. Celebrated in a completely different way than in Belgium. For christmas we had some international dinner party with travelers we met here. After dinner we went to a party and because everything closes between 1 and 3 am, we went to a house party somewhere in the suburbs. We spent christmas day eating Chinese food and drinking gin tonics with some of our friends in a bar. New years eve was also pretty different. We started the evening with a BBQ in a park. The park was filled with people dancing (there were dj's playing music), eating and drinking. After the BBQ we went to a party in someones garden in the suburbs.
So what will happen next? To be honest I have no idea. I'd love to get a job or an internship but if that's not possible, I'll be happy to discover the rest of this amazing country. We'll see, I'll keep you posted!
